European Centre for Returns Division

The mission of the Division is to provide operational, technical and financial support to Member States and, where applicable, to third countries, to ensure an efficient and sustainable implementation of returns within the framework of the Union policy on return and in accordance with the agency’s mandate.

The main tasks of the Division are:

• Support Member States in the organisation and coordination of return operations;
  
• Support the efficient implementation of Union policy on return;
  
• Provide technical and operational assistance to Member States in the area of return, including in the identification of and acquisition of travel documents for third-country nationals subject to return procedures;
  
• Provide technical and operational assistance to Member States in the area of pre-return, returnrelated, post-arrival and post-return activities;
  
• Provide assistance to Member States in relation to (assisted) voluntary returns, prioritising assistance to Member States experiencing challenges with regard to their return systems.
