Meet Raquel, standing corps officer from Portugal . After 13 years as a police officer, she decided to apply to join Europe’s first uniformed law enforcement service.
Now, Raquel is in Ketrzyn, Poland, where she’s about to complete the training programme ahead of her deployment in January 2021.
“I loved the job of a police officer. I applied to Frontex because I wanted to work beyond my home country. Frontex is so multinational and offers outstanding opportunities.
“Learning how to detect forged or false documents came as something totally new to me. But the most difficult part is to be far away from my children. But, I keep telling myself that it’s just a temporary separation. It keeps me going and makes me stronger. Very soon, we will be at the borders, helping to make them safer and more secure.”
