Documents and identity are at the core of border control and in the focus of the Centre of Excellence for Combatting Document Fraud that I head.
Frontex brings together document experts from around Europe and key third partners, a group of highly specialised, professional, and technical minds. They all share precision and attention to detail. Their job is to support colleagues working in operations. Our job at the Centre is to transform complexity into simplicity.
In practice, we provide easy access to knowledge on document and identity control to our colleagues working in the field to help them address the challenges arising daily at the external borders of the European Union. My tasks are centred around document experts, but I also manage officers dealing with vehicle control.
Many border guards have spent their lifetime working on what they are passionate about. Their passion is my motivation. Every day, I witness their dedication, their analytical minds in action, and the infinite knowledge they have on documents.
