Interims and other external personnel are colleagues recruited on fixed-term contracts to help Frontex with temporary tasks or projects. When support is needed, Frontex may hire external staff through one of its four contractors (listed in the order in which they are asked to find new interim candidates). The interim colleagues work on Frontex premises in Warsaw, but are employed by a temporary employment agency under the respective provisions of national employment law in Poland. 

Frontex may seek interim contractors either to:

• Carry out, on a temporary basis, specific tasks resulting from validated projects, which are additional to the ordinary ones OR
• Help cope with exceptional workload
