Frontex publishes Western Balkans Annual Risk Analysis 2014 2014-07-21 In 2013 over 40,000 illegal border-crossings were detected at the external EU borders of the Western Balkans and at the borders between five Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia). This figure is 27% higher than in the previous year and half of the irregular migrants were detected at the Hungarian-Serbian border. Annual Risk Analysis 2013 published 2013-04-18 The year 2012 saw a 50% decrease in the number of illegal border crossings detected at EU level compared to the year before. Moreover, at around 73 000, it was the first year since systematic data collection started in 2008 that the total figure for the year stood at less than 100 000.
