Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, is proud to announce the deployment of additional standing corps officers from across Europe to support Germany’s law enforcement and the German Federal Police at German airports. This initiative aims to ensure safer and more efficient border checks for football fans travelling to Germany for EURO 2024.

A total of 28 specialists will provide their expertise at the following airports: Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Stuttgart.  Cologne and Stuttgart airports will host Frontex staff for the first time, enhancing their operational capacity for the event. Additionally, Frontex has deployed a liaison officer to the Federal Police’s command centre at their headquarters in Potsdam throughout the operational phase.

“We’re all on the same team when it comes to security and safety. Our partnership with Germany for EURO 2024 ensures that every fan can enjoy the beautiful game in a safe environment. This event is a true celebration of European unity and teamwork,” said Frontex Executive Director Hans Leijtens.

During the reinforcement period of EURO24, Frontex will perform border checks, random immigration checks in transit, exchange of expertise and professional experiences, support with awareness sessions, and share knowledge on detecting document fraud.
