2021-10-04

Frontex Executive Director Fabrice Leggeri visited the Poland-Belarus border today with Polish Deputy Minister of Interior Bartosz Grodecki and Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, General Grzegorz Niemiec, to review Poland’s response to the current situation at its border.

During the visit, Minister Grodecki provided information on the current situation on the Poland-Belarus border and the measures taken by the Polish government to ensure border security and counteract the hybrid actions taken by Belarus.

Executive Director Leggeri reviewed the Polish Border Guard operations and was impressed by the means deployed to secure the border. He also thanked Poland for cooperating with Frontex since the beginning of the crisis through ongoing exchange of information and providing the Agency with data on the situation on the Polish section of the external border. Poland has also been active in providing assistance to other countries under migratory pressure. Among others, it deployed the necessary equipment and human resources for the Frontex operation in Lithuania to also counteract the hybrid actions by Belarus.

The visit to Poland's Eastern border follows everyday collaboration between Frontex and the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration.
