Frontex's Research and Innovation Unit initiated a research study at the end of 2022 to investigate the potential of high-altitude pseudo-satellites (HAPS) as a capability enabler/multiplier and to understand how the internal security community can maximise the opportunities provided by such solutions.
The study has been split in several work packages, but the main highlights have been condensed into short, easy-to-understand insights. The current insight presents a review of the impact of HAPS technology on fundamental rights.
Frontex will soon release a final insight that
will highlight the work conducted in the final report.
