First review of ARESIBO project

2021-02-05

On 21 January, Frontex, the Research Executive Agency (REA), DG Home and a number of national authorities met to review the ARESIBO project.

During the meeting, the project coordinator presented the technical and operational objectives of this Horizon 2020 project, while other consortium experts explained the project’s evolution. The introduction was followed by the demonstration of the first version of the ARESIBO operational prototype by the Hellenic Ministry of Defence. The prototype consisted of four phases: preparedness (surveillance plan); event detection; analysis and response and resolution.

The demonstration was carried out with live data coming from two unmanned vehicles, while the supporting hardware was sent to the relevant authorities. The data were displayed through augmented reality (AR) goggles and tablets, as well as AR screens for Command and Control .

This excellent demonstration enabled the participants to assess the capabilities of innovative technology for data visualization. The next versions of the prototype will be tested in Portugal, Greece and Finland.

More information on ARESIBO can be found on the Frontex website,  on the project’s website or on the website of EU’s Community Research and Development Information Service.
