The MIRROR project's goal is to develop an integrated platform with a set of tools as well as a systematic methodology for a comprehensive analysis of the perception of Europe, the detection of discrepancies between perception of and reality in Europe, and the creation of awareness for their impact and the resulting threats, including hybrid threats. The project will combine methods of automated text, multimedia and social network analysis for various types of communication channels, along with empirical studies for creating a substantiated picture of the perception of Europe. The developed solutions will be thoroughly validated with border authorities and policy makers, e.g. via pilots.

Research topics:

  • automated detection of migration-related information campaigns in a wide variety of channels and languages
  • tools for effective cross-media and threat analysis including reality and bias checking
  • innovative and effective IT and Artificial Intelligence methods
  • toolkit of actionable insights covering policies, law, ethics and technology for border control
  • delivery of legally compliant and societally acceptable solutions
