FOCUS AREA: network of practitioners, community platform, social network analysis, research and innovation monitoring

MEDEA’s goal is to establish a network of practitioners and organizations across the Mediterranean and Black Sea countries responsible for enhancing safety, security and resilience of its societies. The online community platform will promote and facilitate the practitioner’s e-participation in the network, encourage and support information exchange, and provide consultation on topics of interests. In addition, the network will collectively define a coherent and forward-looking strategy – MSRIA – to tackle emerging security challenges taking into consideration technological, human, organizational and regulatory dimensions. MSRIA will be designed to identify areas where security and defence research is needed, and to define recommendations for technology investments. This will be achieved using a scenario based visioning method. It will consider alternative future threats and high impact scenarios, compare them and analyse how they might occur at  mid to long-term scope as well as determine how effective and efficient responses may by devised.

Research:

  • online community platform to coordinate practitioners from  Mediterranean & Black Sea to support the establishment of national and EU policies on security research
  • efficient funding framework for the uptake of innovative solutions and maximizing the return-of-investment in security technologies
  • improving the visibility of the EU Security Market on the demand side and on the supply side, and fostering its competitiveness

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 787111
