Invitation to Industry – Biometrics on the move

2017-04-19

In order to carry out a technology assessment of “Biometrics on the move”, Frontex will organize a one day meeting in Warsaw on 23 May 2017 to exchange information with companies currently involved in developing solutions for this concept. In this context “biometrics on the move” is understood as the acquisition of data (more in particular biometrics) at a distance for the purpose of identity verification as a person walks by data capture equipment. The objective here is to facilitate the processing of persons who cross a border crossing point, thus contributing to a smoother (and faster) flow. As a follow up to this meeting, Frontex may organize a conference accompanied with a live demonstration of technology in September 2017. In case promising solutions are identified, a trial, financed by Frontex, in an operational environment hosted by one Member State may be considered.

For participation in the workshop the participants will have to cover their own costs. To attend the workshop you will need to register by sending an e-mail to rdu-technology-assessment@frontex.europa.eu.  The closing date (and time) for the registrations is 10 May, 24:00 h, Warsaw local time.  Please include in your registration e-mail a short text describing the experience your organization has with verification of identity on the move, any ongoing or finished projects and any existing products you may already have in this area.

Please note that the attendance capacity is limited; therefore, participation will be determined on a combination of time of arrival of your request to participate and the relevance of your activities/products for biometrics on the move solutions.

The workshop meeting will take place at Frontex HQ located at Plac Europejski 6, 00-844 Warsaw, Poland, 23 May 2017, from 09:00 to 17:00 h Warsaw local time.
