Invitation to attend an industry day workshop

2016-04-19

Frontex open invitation to attend an industry day workshop addressing the Advance Traveller Risk Analysis capacity, and the potential for industry to provide additional capability for this purpose today or in the short term.

Advance Traveller Risk Analysis is here understood as a capacity of border authorities for screening travellers before their arrival to the border crossing point, as well as for putting the border guard in a better informed position to carry out border checks in a more effective and efficient manner.

Advance Traveller Risk Analysis makes use of biographical and travel-related advance information forwarded by carriers, information existing in government and law enforcement databases, open sources, as well as other immigration intelligence that can be collected and processed for the purposes of border management. Those who as an outcome of this process are identified as persons of interest may include: potential victims (for instance of trafficking in human beings), known and unknown offenders, those who might represent a risk to the country, its citizens or institutions. Others may be entitled to facilitation.

Frontex would therefore like to invite to this one-day workshop representatives of leading Vendors / Operators of such capability to:

  • explore and better understand the foreseen use cases of Advance Traveller Risk Analysis in border control, as emerging from the needs of border authorities in the EU;
  • help EU border authorities to achieve a proper Advance Traveller Risk Analysis capacity, using a broad spectrum of intelligence and sources, that extends beyond current mere consultation of databases;
  • conduct bilateral meetings with Frontex and selected countries with a view to present their relevant products/services on the subject matter;
  • express their interest to participate in a risk-based facilitation pilot planned by Frontex for 2016 where this capacity will be one of its core elements.

To attend the workshop you will need to register by e-mailing rd-events@frontex.europa.eu as soon as possible.  Please, include in your registration e-mail a short text describing:

  • the experience of your company in developing advance tactical risk analysis applications or services;
  • the existing products/services your company has in this field.

Attendance capacity is limited, invitations will be determined on a strict first come, first served basis so in order to avoid disappointment you should express your interest as soon as possible. The closing date (and time) for the registrations is 2 May 2016 at 24:00 h, Warsaw local time.

The workshop meeting will take place in Madrid (venue to be confirmed), Spain, on 11 May 2016, from 09:30 to 15:30 h, CET. Bilateral meetings will take place by appointment immediately after the event until 19:30 h, CET.
