Invitation for industry to attend a Day on Maritime Analysis Tools

2017-07-20

Frontex is constantly monitoring the newest products, services, technologies and developments in the field of border security in order to identify options and opportunities for developing future capacities.

In this regard, Frontex is now organising an industry day addressing Maritime Analysis Tools that are available today. During this industry day providers of such tools can present their products/services to an audience consisting of representatives of EU Member States and Frontex.

Maritime Analysis is here understood as the capacity to carry out analytical screening of ships on the basis of 1- behaviour; 2- processed vessel historical data; 3- integration with open source information and 4 – the outputs of automated dynamic and static risk assessments. The purpose of this screening is to enhance the risk analysis and operational support to competent EU maritime authorities. The use of such a tool can potentially improve the capacity of these authorities to act in a pro-active way to prevent, amongst other things, illegal migration and cross-border crime in the maritime domain.

During the industry day representatives of leading vendors/operators of Maritime Analysis Tools will have the opportunity to exchange of information with the audience for the purpose of:

  • exploring and better understanding the potential use cases for such tools in border control;
  • identifying potential issues/questions/concerns as regards the use of such tools.

In order to express your interest to attend the industry day you will need to register by e-mailing rdu-technology-assessment@frontex.europa.eu  Please, include in your registration e-mail a short text describing:

  • the experience of your company in providing Maritime Analysis Tools;
  • existing products/services your company has already deployed in the Maritime Analysis field;
  • the way you address with your products/services the 4 screening points mentioned above.

As the attendance capacity is limited, invitations to attend will be determined on the basis of first come, first serve and the relevance of the information provided in your registration message. In order to avoid disappointment you should express your interest as soon as possible. The closing date (and time) for the registrations is 14 August 2017 at 18:00h, Warsaw local time.
