Industry Day on innovative solutions for document security
2024-01-17
Every
year, Frontex expert networks - the High-Level Round Table on Document and
Identity Control and the Frontex Expert Group on Document Control meet in a
plenary session to exchange information and plan their priorities. Representatives
from the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North-Macedonia,
Montenegro, Serbia) and Moldova, as well as international and regional
organisations that have a stake in document and identity control, and are involved
in the fight against document fraud, also attend, which gives a truly global
overview of the situation, policies and working methods.
We want to find out about the technological innovations that industry is working on!
In 2024, the plenary meeting will take place in Warsaw and on the third day of the event, i.e. on Thursday, 29 February, Frontex is organising an Industry Day (I-Day) for companies to present their innovative solutions for document security with the aim of combating document fraud.
Frontex is particularly interested in the following solutions:
1. Stationary and mobile equipment for processing/capturing images for document database
- automated capturing functions,
- option of predefined settings,
- different light sources (white, oblique, UV, IR, transmitted),
- optical and digital magnification.
2. Technology related to the issuance of secured documents
- latest security features developed to increase the level of security of travel and identity documents: OVD (substrates, inks and other variable security features), transparent windows and other new security features visible in different sources of lights;
- personalisation techniques for PC substrates (photo of holder, secondary photo, and biographical data);
- polycarbonate colour personalisation technology.
3. Document inspection systems
- material/app to assess the authenticity and integrity of the RFID chips and QR codes (VDS, 2DDOC, etc.);
- technologies developed in the frame of the future use of digital travel credentials;
- e-gates equipment and software.
What’s in it for you?
- Industry representatives will be given a 30-minute slot to deliver a presentation and answer questions from the audience.
- Afterwards, there will be an industry exhibition, where companies will have the opportunity to showcase their product and/or technical solutions in a dedicated space – basic logistic support (power, table, AV) will be provided.
Your presence at the I-Day puts your innovation and technological solutions in the spotlight and creates an opportunity for you to connect with the European Border and Coast Guard community.
How to participate?
Following the deadline for submissions, Frontex will select the six most relevant technological solutions. All submissions will be evaluated internally, ensuring alignment with the needs of the European Border and Coast Guard community while guaranteeing the fair and transparent treatment of all participants.
There are no fees to participate in the event, however, the costs related to travel and accommodation will not be reimbursed.
