Frontex Industry Days: Shaping the future of European integrated border management

2020-12-09

In November, Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency organised virtual industry days to showcase and discuss the newest technologies and products in border management.

The event brought together 177 participants, including from EU Member States’ authorities, European agencies such as EMSA, eu-LISA, EMCDDA and others; representatives of the European Commission, OLAF and European Council; international organisations such as IOM and UNHCR; and Frontex.

During the industry days, participants had the possibility to see the newest developments in border checks and surveillance, artificial intelligence, communications and other technologies. The products were selected by a panel of European experts from among almost 90 high-quality applications.

There were live demonstrations of how artificial intelligence can improve maritime and land border monitoring and how open-source intelligence can be fused with sensor data to enhance situational awareness. The biometrics sector was also strongly represented with presentations of facial recognition and fingerprint capture technologies, crucial in light of the impending entry into force of the Entry-Exit System. Companies also demonstrated the latest technology in command and control systems for law enforcement.

Frontex would like to encourage companies that wish to present their innovative solutions to fill in our interactive form in order to be placed in the selection pool for the next meeting.
