I
have been leading teams of officers responsible for joint operations at the
external borders of the EU since 2012. We deploy officers, vessels, cars and
aircraft from different EU Member States to the external borders areas most
affected by irregular migration. This requires effective management of people
and equipment.
But we do much more than that. Our operations serve many
different purposes - we support EU Member States in fighting different types of
cross-border crime. We also help create a real European coast guard.
I’m very proud to lead a big team of motivated and committed professionals who help maintain the European area of free movement and make Europe safer, while promoting European values and fundamental rights.
