As all other Frontex operations, those at external land borders aim to provide adequate operational responses to threats identified by risk analysis. Specifically, they assist Member States in addressing high migratory pressure at external land borders. Frontex operations also contribute to the detection of cross-border crime and to enhancing European cooperation.
Main Operations
To assist the EU members most affected by the migratory flows on the Western Balkans route, as well as various cross-border criminal activity, the agency deploys specialised officers and border surveillance vehicles and other equipment in Hungary and Croatia. Deployed officers assist the national authorities in the detection of forged documents, stolen cars, illegal drugs and weapons.
