Frontex is a strategic partner of the Baltic Sea Regional Border Control Cooperation (BSRBCC), a regional forum of Law Enforcement authorities from Baltic Sea countries focused on security-related issues concerning border control in the Baltic Sea region. In context of this cooperation the Agency is given an efficient assistance in the field of enhancing border security, combatting cross-border crime and ensuring environmental protection as well as fisheries surveillance within the Baltic Sea basin. Cooperation on the operational level relates to activities such as sea exercises and operations, sharing of information concerning the tasks and authorities of border services in the area of border controls at sea ports and sea areas, exchanging information about security standards as well as counteracting terrorism. Its efficiency is further ensured through establishment of best practices and providing joint improvement trainings, joint analysis of threats in the region, border exercises and meetings at the expert level focused on selected cooperation issues. Eventually, the partnership within BSRBCC allows the Agency to seize the opportunity to improve Border and Coast Guard capacities of detection and monitoring within the Baltic Sea Region and further ensure an effective and coordinated border security management.
