Vivian, an officer from Estonia

2021-03-01

Meet Vivian, an officer from Estonia working with Frontex in Greece:

“My grandfather was working on boats. Ten years ago, I decided to follow his passion and joined the Police and Border Guard service in Estonia. Today I am a maritime officer in my home country and on my 12th mission with Frontex.

During my Frontex missions, I was working in different roles, starting from a fingerprinting officer, screening expert to debriefing officer, gathering information on criminal networks.

My favorite but perhaps the most demanding one was being a crew member during sea patrols. We were always ready to help people in distress. Search and rescue cases are physically and mentally demanding, but I always put the job and professionalism before my personal feelings or fears.

I have no doubt that the job of a border and coast guard officer is a job for brave people with a mission. In Frontex, there is no distinction between men and women. Every position is equal and every position is important. Be brave and join us!“
