Meet Magdalena Mos who works as a Training Project Officer.
Frontex is more than operations, surveillance or risk analysis. At headquarters we also have a Training Unit where experts design and deliver training for the Frontex standing corps and the EU Member States. I am a Training Project Manager and Team Leader in the Training Unit, responsible for e-Learning design and management. One of my main tasks is the e-learning design and management of the Basic Training and the Extended Basic Training for standing corps category 1. I am responsible for selecting the most appropriate tools to support this training from the pedagogical and the technical point of view. In this way we can track the progression of learning of the standing corps cadets and assess who will successfully graduate from this programme.
I wanted to work for Frontex because I strongly believe in the power of education and wanted to make a difference using my skills in this institution. I am an e-Learning specialist with a Master’s degree in Social Pedagogy, specialising in adult education. Prior to joining Frontex, I worked in academia (University of Oxford and European University Institute) and in the private sector, so adjusting to a law enforcement culture was a challenge. However, pedagogical skills are universal and can be applied to any sector. My expertise makes a significant difference in designing training that follows modern educational approaches to the use of technology, which is especially valuable during unforeseen circumstances like the Covid-19 pandemic.
