Organisation

The agency is managed by an Executive Director whose functions and powers are defined in Article 68 of Regulation (EU) No 2016/1624. The Executive Director is assisted by a Deputy Executive Director and supported by five Divisions, a Cabinet, Offices (Media and Public Relations; Inspection and Control; Data Protection; Accounting) and Task Forces (ETIAS and Interoperability; Permanent premises for the Frontex headquarters).

The Divisions are following:

  • Operational Response Division
    (Centre of Excellence for Combatting Document Fraud; Operational Divisional Support Office; Field Deployments Unit; Coast Guard and Law Enforcement Unit; European Centre for Returns)
  • Situational Awareness and Monitoring Division
    (Business Management and Development Office; Information Fusion Centre; Frontex Situation Centre; Risk Analysis Unit; Vulnerability Assessment Unit)
  • Capacity Building Division
    (Capability Programming Office; Pooled Resources Unit; Research and Innovation Unit; Training Unit)
  • Corporate Governance Division
    (Human Resources and Security Unit; Legal and Procurement Unit; Budget, Financial and Corporate Services Unit; Information and Communication Technology Unit)
  • International and European Cooperation Division
    (International Cooperation Unit; Institutional Partnership Unit; Liaison officers Networks Unit)

An independent Fundamental Right Officer reports directly to the Management Board and cooperates with the Consultative Forum which assists the Executive Director and the Management Board with independent advice in fundamental rights matters.
