Situational Awareness and Monitoring Division
The mission of the Division is to drive intelligence-led decision-making in EU border management and planning of targeted responses, by fusing actionable information and delivering tailored and forward-looking knowledge products in a timely manner.
The main tasks of the Division are:
- Produce actionable information and analysis to enable the effective and efficient functioning of the European Border and Coast Guard, based on integrated risk analysis and vulnerabilit assessment
- Support and promote intelligence-led operational activities and information exchange networks
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a fully interoperable and efficient European Quality Control Mechanism.
The Situational Awarness and Monitoring Division consists of the following units: Frontex Situation Centre, Risk Analysis and Vulnerability Assessment.
An Information Fusion Centre is an office established within the structure of the Division to provide up-to-date, reliable and innovative information services, operational products as well as knowledge and technology driven capabilities based on a wide range of data, including geospatial & earth observation data, maritime & air border surveillance data and data from Frontex operational activities. The Information Fusion Centre also develops, implements and provides Eurosur business capabilities.
